DUO**STARS SUMMERschool
Summer school programmes for students from vocational schools to provide information and consultation about educational and career pathways. Students aged 13 and 14 from Lower Austria and Slovakia were invited for a week in the summer to get to know the industry in Lower Austria and Slovakia under pedagogical supervision.
Background
Within the ETZ-project DUO**STARS, the Region Lower Austria, the Federal Ministry of Lower Austria, the Economic Chamber Lower Austria in cooperation with municipalities, schools and universities developed summer school programmes addressed to students from vocational schools. These included career information and consultation, visits of educational institutions, training companies as well as workshops, where they could learn more about different education path ways and professions.
Goal
The goals included counteracting the shortage of skilled workers, arousing greater interest in technology and innovation among young people aged 13/14, increasing their interest in industry and presenting the diversity of industrial career opportunities.
